About a week ago, a few dozen folks took their seats in  Hub Oakland’s Omni Gallery to watch trailers and shorts from the upcoming San Francisco Black Film Festival. The East Bay meet and greet also featured a panel and there was a random appearance from Rappin 4 Tay (since then I’ve been saying “to make a short story shorter” but that’s neither here nor there). During the mixing and mingling I hear that there’s another festival happening featuring films by queer women of color. “I haven’t heard about that,” I replied. “I do know I need to get tickets to see .” “Wait, where is that playing?” the woman behind me asked. So yeah, there are hella independent films playing right now.

The clips below are meant to give you a taste of each festival. Check the links, catch a flick and tell us which ones you loved.
