Event: The Return of Monday Soul with R.O.D., London, & 1-O.A.K.

There was a time in the not so distant past when Monday Soul at The New Parish was not just the best thing going on a Monday, it was Oakland’s go to event of the week. Jareem and JE handled the behind the scenes work to bring you the Bay’s (and sometimes the country’s) best singers, DNas held down the mic with his big man suits and #ClassyRatchet candor, and DJ D-Sharp would murder the dance floor with everything from Prince to Wocka Flocka. Those were the good old days.

Well tonight, we return to last year’s glory with the Monday Soul all stars. R&Bay stalwarts R.O.D., London, and 1-O.A.K. will be rocking the stage, Dnas will host, and Sharp will handle the turntable work before and after. And as usual, we’re partying for a cause.

This rare Monday Soul affair is a toy drive held in partnership with Second Hand Toys to benefit Oakland Head Start. We all remember what it was like to play with toys incessantly as young children. And we also remember outgrowing them. Perhaps you have a child that is going through that process right now. Tonight is your opportunity to donate those toys that have outgrown the spotlight in your child’s playtime. The life of a toy in unnecessarily short and there are plenty of young children who would love to share the joy that toy has brought to your child.

Bring a toy, some drink money, and your dancing shoes because Monday Soul promises to be a blast just like it’s always been. See you there.
