Locks: A touching Oakland film by Ryan Coogler

When I first watched Locks, home came rushing back to me. But what originally looks to be a West Oakland slice-of-life short, turns out to be unexpectedly touching. Locks is a short film by Oakland and Richmond native Ryan Coogler, a former Sacramento State football player and graduate film student at USC. We’d like to congratulate Ryan because Locks was recently selected as a finalist for the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. You can watch it below.
